Predictive Influence of Academic Self-concept and Motivational Arousals in examination Cheating Tendency among Students in Cross River State – Nigeria

Abstract
The study examined the predictive influence of academic self-concept and motivational arousals on examination cheating tendency among senior secondary students (SS III) in Cross River State Nigeria. The study was carried out in Calabar Education Zone of the state made up of five Local Government Areas. Two hypotheses were proposed and a researcher-developed Motivational Determinant of Cheating Tendency Questionnaire (MDCTQ) was used as the instrument for data collection. The sample for the study was made up of 400Senior Secondary Students (SS III) randomly selected from 20secondary schools in the zone. The data was analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis (p-r). The results of the findings revealed a significant relationship between students’ academic self-concept and their cheating tendency in examination and a significant relationship between motivational arousals and cheating tendencies in examination among students.
